Aborigines, Negrito of Luzon, and the Quechuas. Should make the JW more interesting and especially the new light from the new GB.

What would the ideal racial demographic be for the Governing Body?
by LogCon inthe number of white men on the governing body has often come up for discussion.
the negro member has been called the 'token black.
' no reflection on his race, but it just seems odd that with the great number of witnesses around the world, in such a variety of countries, that every member, but one, is white.. in your opinion, [with 8 as the target number].

Thanks for the info. I will check it out.
In addition to this site I know that IVY colleges also offer free online courses but you don't get credit for it. I think some may give you a certificate.

"Banned in Brooklyn"
by Quendi ini hope this thread generates some discussion as well as some amusement.
i want to talk about "banned books".
back in the middle ages, the roman catholic church issued its index librorum prohibitorum, the list of prohibited books.

I recall a family I was close to. I would play D&D with their son. His mother found about $400 worth of Dungeons and Dragons book in his room. This was the late 80's and was a lot of money for him. I think he was 13. Well, when I came to his house to play a session, there on his porch was this pile of ashes. There door was open to the house which lead into the living room. He was at the table with his parents, surrounded by bibles and other WT books. I was told to leave that Ronny was grounded. lol

A recently enrolled for a few courses at a Public University and noticed a similar trend. My "books" were pages sealed in a wrapper. I was expected to buy a 3 ring binder. This is a major traditional University. It all goes to cost cutting. The funny part is my books still cost $200-$300 each.
All the Society needs to do is eventually eliminate their biggest expenses. They don't pay taxes, except perhaps impact fees on new buildings, and no real major labor costs.
Eliminate/Reduce all Printing ----- Go Digital
Limit Liability
Invest donations in Buildings/Land
Reduce Energy Costs/Sustainability Invest -------- solar panels, wind power ect..
I would even eliminate COs----- Make sure all KH have WIFI and stream talks from New York. The last one would be what I think will eventually happen.

Wait a minute.... WHAT??????
Don't tell me they have gone back to "Sodom & Gomorrah might be resurrected"?
NO WAY!!!??!!!
If so, please give me the link, book, etc this info is from... I have to read it myself.
Thx! cha ching
They've gone back and forth so many times, I guess I really don't know thier current position on it. Last article I found was 2005 stating no resurrection for certain ones. So that means some will.
http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/resurrection.php
"Those who are judged unworthy of a resurrection are pitched into “Gehenna,” or “the lake of fire.” (Matthew 5:22; Mark 9:47, 48; Revelation 20:14) Among these would be the first human pair, Adam and Eve, the betrayer Judas Iscariot, and certain ones who died when God executed judgment upon them, such as the people in Noah’s day and the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah." Watchtower 2005 Jul 15 p.31
Not Resurrected
"Consequently, in addition to what Jude 7 says, the Bible uses Sodom/Gomorrah and the Flood as patterns for the destructive end of the present wicked system. It is apparent, then, that those whom God executed in those past judgments experienced irreversible destruction." Watchtower 1988 Jun 1 p.31
Some Resurrected
"A definite indication is found at Jude 7, where we read that "Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities about them … are placed before us as a warning example by undergoing the judicial punishment of everlasting fire." Yes, the destruction of the gross sinners in those cities was eternal, as will be the destruction of the wicked at the end of the present system of things." Watchtower 1990 Apr 15 p.20

"What did he say when you said so that last 90 years were fluff"
The usual, that the core doctrines have not changed. Just a better understanding. I didn't challenge him further. He and his fellow elder are from the congregation I was baptised in. Though that BOE no longer exist (most died) I don't want to stir the pot. Not sure if they can df someone who has been inactive for more than a decade but not worth the ordeal.
Like I've said in other posts, this religion has not done me any real harm and I didn't mind overall being in it. I mostly left because of the changing doctrines and the hypocrisy of the members.

I had a recent conversation with an Elder from my mother's congregation. He with another Elder was at my mom's house. My mother has all the bound volumes for both the awake and watchtower plus most of the older books. This elder tried to witness to me and he would ask me questions. I know what the new teaching is but I would always answer with "old light" and I would get out the Watchtower or Awake to show him in there.
The witnesses always use the same open ended questions no matter the congregation. The one he asked me was who will not be resurrected? The correct adjusted knowledge answer is Adam, Eve, and Judas. But I feign ignorance and stated all those in Sodom and Gomorrah. I was waiting for him to refute my answer but then I showed him the watchtower answer in the 80's was they would not be resurrected. There were several more questions of this type which I'm sure most of you were trained to ask. It was fun because I was ready for it.
He was getting frustrated and told my mother she should throw away all those bound volumes and that is what he did. He only keeps the watchtower and awake from 2000 to present. So of course I took a parting shot and stated, " Oh I guess the last 90 years of teachings was wrong?" lol
Basically the religion keeps changing every 10-15 years.

What would be your favorite job if you could do anything.?
by new hope and happiness inon the basis that most of us realise the w.t wasnt really the best " job" or way to spend our days, it would be fun to find out what people would really have liked to have done with there lifes and if this is still possible.
or maybe its not even a very realistic ambition just a dream.
in my dreams i stay at home all day and make a living from being a professional artist.maybe i need a phycholgist?.

I was interested in being an elementary teacher or perhaps teaching history in highschool. I have a bachelors from USF in Tampa. I was thinking of moving back to Florida and entering their masters program in education. It would take 18 months. The problem is I make $65k as a manager and the company I work for has no history of doing layoffs. A starting teacher in Florida with a masters degree makes $35k-$38k depending on the county. In addition a lot of counties are notorious for laying off new teachers every year or not hiring.
I still may pursue a career in teaching but because of the economics it may be when I'm in my mid 40's. I place a higher value on time with my family than the money, but at the same time I need to make sure my family is financially fit.

Yeah, I just watch the whole thing. They, "the ex-witnesses", seem very vindicative and crazy. This just feeds to the idea that dissenters are apostates and crazy. LOL I mean showing hidden message like the black man with the penis on the song book, the hidden words sex and f*ck.
I watch the videos because this couple are nuts. I wonder what they were like when they were witnesses. I don't know their story but man I guess the witnesses pissed in their cheerios. Keep making the videos; I find them amusing.
